Home Remedies to Relieve Constipation

Our body is designed to eliminate waste regularly. This is done through our urine and stools. However, if this draining is not routinely done, it can be very uncomfortable and eventually quite painful.

People suffering from constipation can, of course, go to the pharmacy and buy laxatives, but that is not absolutely necessary in many cases. There are many naturally occurring remedies that you can find in your garden or kitchen that are at least as effective. These methods can help relieve constipation, after which you can return to your usual bathroom routine.

Hot Water with Lemon

Of course, it is not for nothing that many people drink hot water with lemon to start the day. But did you know that lemon can also stimulate the digestive tract? Lemon with hot water helps restore and maintain the body’s natural pH balance for many people.

Citric acid removes unpleasant toxins and indigestible substances from the intestinal wall. This is because, in many cases, this is the cause of constipation. By adding water, the citric acid will be quickly absorbed into the body, and the stool will become liquid.

Squeeze a whole lemon and add it to a cup of hot water. Stir well and drink. Drinking it little by little over ten minutes or so will surely help. But if you drink it every day, your constipation will be relieved entirely before you know it.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is an excellent home remedy that can be used for just about anything. It shouldn’t be missing from your medicine cabinet. Baking soda is so effective because it somehow removes excess air from the body. So, this same bicarbonate can improve constipation by the exact mechanism.

For this, add a teaspoon of baking soda to a quarter cup of water. Drink this all at once, and you will immediately feel your body moving, especially your bowels.

Probiotics

You already know how vital this type of bacteria is. Some people achieve this through a healthy diet, while others take yogurt or other products. We call these probiotics.

Consuming probiotics will help keep your gut healthy. Taking probiotics daily can prevent constipation and lessen the symptoms of constipation if it does occur.

Eating a cup of pure, organic yogurt every day is a natural way to consume probiotics. Choose yogurt that does not contain additives. Preferably one from a health food store or directly from farmers.

Don’t like yogurt? Then you can turn to the numerous probiotic supplements widely available in pharmacies and health food stores. However, note that these supplements often contain several additives, including sugar. Manufacturers believe that sugar is necessary to mask the taste of the probiotics.

Flaxseed Oil

Flaxseed oil not only contains all the healthy fatty acids but it also helps with constipation. Flaxseed oil creates a mucous membrane in the intestines that allows the stool to pass smoothly.

To take advantage of this:

Mix a tablespoon or two of flaxseed oil in a glass of orange juice.

Drink it all at once.

It is essential that you drink this mixture as soon as possible instead of waiting for several hours. It will take about five hours to do its job. If you are in a hurry and drink another cup an hour later, you may end up with diarrhea. Constipation may be relieved, but you will have other problems instead.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is not only an excellent antioxidant, but it can also help relieve constipation. Stronger still, the risk of constipation is minimal if olive oil is consumed regularly or used only when preparing meals.

However, if you are currently suffering from constipation, you will notice that a tablespoon of pure olive oil will start a bowel movement in a very short time. You can also mix two teaspoons of lemon juice with olive oil, just like you do with flaxseed oil, for more effective and faster results, and of course, better taste.
